Mayor Matt Burnett and fellow Gladstone Regional Council representatives were welcomed on site in Gladstone this week at Alpha HPA’s cutting-edge high purity alumina facility to learn more about the company’s Stage Two of development.
The visit provided Council members with a firsthand look at Alpha HPA’s advanced manufacturing processes and its globally competitive technology platform. The team shared insights into the company’s rapid growth and the future opportunities being unlocked as it positions itself to supply high-grade alumina to customers across Europe, North America, and the Asia Pacific.
Stage Two of the HPA First Project will see a significant scale-up in production capacity, enabling Alpha HPA to meet increasing demand from international customers in sectors including LED lighting, electric vehicle batteries, and semiconductor manufacturing.
Alpha HPA Managing Director Rob Williamson said the company valued the ongoing relationship with the Gladstone Regional Council.
“We were pleased to welcome Mayor Burnett and the Council team to our facility. Their continued support has been a key part of our success in Gladstone. As we look to expand with Stage Two, having the backing of local government is instrumental in helping us deliver long-term regional jobs and global supply chain capability,” Mr Williamson said.
“It was great to share with Mayor Burnett how their support is playing a vital role in enabling the global shift to cleaner, smarter technologies, as our materials are driving the next generation of AI semiconductors, EV batteries and sustainable electronics.”
Alpha HPA’s proprietary process enables the sustainable production of ultra-high purity alumina using 100 percent renewable energy, near zero waste and around 70 percent lower carbon emissions than traditional methods. The project has already delivered almost 100 local jobs and is expected to create an additional 120 at full production.
Attendees from Gladstone Regional Council included Mayor Matt Burnett, Cr Natalia Muszkat, Cr Chris Cameron, Cr Simon McClintock, Leisa Dowling – CEO, Kimberley Wilson – General Manager Customer Experience, Kristy Marks – Economic Development Manager and Kylie Lee – General Manager of Community and Lifestyles
