Alpha HPA has reached a major milestone with the arrival, unloading and departure of our first charter vessel at Auckland Point, Gladstone. This marks a pivotal step in the Stage Two expansion of the HPA First Project, bringing us closer to delivering Australia’s first large-scale high-purity alumina plant.
The vessel, MV Ocean Flora, berthed at Auckland Point Berth No. 4 on 11 November and commenced unloading at 11pm. Over the next 43 hours, teams worked tirelessly to discharge and transport the cargo – critical components for the Solvent Extraction Plant and site-erected tanks – into Alpha’s port laydown area for temporary storage.
This achievement was only possible thanks to the extraordinary efforts of our procurement, logistics and construction teams, as well as everyone involved in planning, coordination and execution. The operation required seamless collaboration across continents, from collecting cargo in China, navigating customs and quarantine, to safe discharge in Gladstone.
To commemorate this milestone, we’ve produced a time lapse video capturing the vessel’s arrival, unloading and departure. Check it out below!
