Alpha HPA Managing Director Rob Williamson joined Edward Boyd on Sky News Australia over the weekend to discuss the global acceleration in artificial intelligence (AI) infrastructure investment, South Korea’s growing semiconductor ambitions and the critical materials required to enable the next generation of computing.
The discussion follows South Korea’s announcement of a significant investment drive into AI and semiconductor manufacturing, reinforcing the scale of global investment underway to support the technologies powering the future.
While the rapid expansion of semiconductor production capacity has created debate around future chip supply, the broader trend is clear: the global race to develop faster, more powerful and more efficient computing requires a new generation of advanced materials.
As home to some of the world’s largest semiconductor manufacturers, South Korea represents an important market for Alpha HPA, with a significant portion of the Company’s customer base located in the region.
Rob discussed Alpha HPA’s role in this growing technology supply chain, including demand for the Company’s ultra-high purity aluminium materials used in advanced semiconductor applications.
Alpha HPA is already supplying zero alpha radiation high purity alumina (HPA) products to semiconductor customers, with production expected to increase as the Company scales through its Stage Two HPA First Project in Gladstone, Queensland.
The Stage Two facility will become the world’s largest single-site manufacturing facility for ultra-high purity aluminium materials, providing a secure and scalable supply chain for the rapidly expanding advanced technology sector.
As hyperscale technology companies continue investing in AI infrastructure, Alpha HPA is positioned in the enabling materials layer of the value chain, producing the critical inputs required to support next-generation computing.
