Alpha HPA Managing Director Rob Williamson joined ABC Radio Queensland's Adam Stephen to discuss growing global demand for high-purity aluminium materials and what it means for advanced manufacturing in Queensland.
The interview follows Alpha HPA's recent announcement that customer demand now exceeds the planned production capacity of its flagship HPA First Project in Gladstone, highlighting the strength of demand from rapidly expanding industries including artificial intelligence, semiconductors, electronics and electric vehicles.
Speaking with ABC Radio Queensland, Mr Williamson said the pace of investment in AI infrastructure and advanced technologies is creating significant opportunities for manufacturers supplying critical materials into these global supply chains.
"Demand for our products is being driven by several high-growth industries, particularly artificial intelligence and semiconductor manufacturing, where high-purity aluminium materials play a critical role in advanced technologies."
Alpha HPA's Gladstone manufacturing facilities utilise the Company's proprietary Smart SX Technology™, an innovative process designed to unlock new capabilities in the production of ultra-high purity aluminium materials while delivering lower carbon emissions than conventional production methods.
The Company's HPA First Facility, currently under construction in Gladstone, is expected to become the world's largest single-site manufacturing facility for high-purity aluminium materials, supplying customers across semiconductor, battery, optics and advanced manufacturing sectors.
The interview also explored the broader significance of advanced manufacturing for regional Queensland, the opportunities being created through major project investment in Gladstone, and Australia's growing role in global technology supply chains.
