Alpha HPA recognised for innovation at GEA Awards

Alpha HPA has been honoured with the prestigious Innovator Award at the Gladstone Engineering Alliance (GEA) Awards, held in Gladstone last night. This accolade celebrates the company’s trailblazing advancements in technology and its leadership in driving sustainable practices within Central Queensland’s industrial sector.

The award ceremony was a highlight of the 2024 GEA Major Industry, Energy, and Manufacturing Conference, where Alpha HPA’s Executive Director and Chief Operating Officer, Rob Williamson, delivered a keynote address that underscored the company’s pivotal role in the renewables transition.

Based in Gladstone, Alpha HPA operates at the gateway to Queensland’s growing industrial and renewable energy hub.

The company’s proprietary Smart SX Technology is the first of its kind, employing a highly selective and advanced process to extract aluminium with precision. This innovation significantly reduces both energy consumption and waste, setting a new standard for low-impact production.

The Innovator Award also recognises Alpha HPA’s global leadership in producing ultra-high purity aluminium oxides, hydroxides, nitrates, and sulphates—critical materials for industries such as LED lighting, lithium-ion batteries, synthetic sapphire, and semiconductors.

Through its unique process, Alpha HPA delivers products of unparalleled purity while drastically cutting the carbon footprint associated with conventional aluminium production.

Alpha HPA’s Executive Director and Chief Operations Officer Rob Williamson said this recognition affirms the company’s dedication to innovation and its commitment to building a low-carbon future.

“Innovation drives everything we do at Alpha HPA. This award is a testament to the hard work and vision of our team, who are constantly pushing boundaries to develop sustainable solutions for a cleaner world,” Mr Williamson said.

“Our Smart SX Technology, which allows us to produce ultra-high purity aluminium with dramatically lower emissions and energy use, is proof of our commitment to decarbonisation and a positive environmental impact.” Mr Williamson said.

The GEA Innovator Award celebrates businesses that embrace new opportunities, diversify offerings, or successfully adapt to current market challenges. For Alpha HPA, this recognition reinforces its forward-thinking approach and leadership within the global industry.
